Psicology student here: actually if you're under stress for a long time, your body gets basically sick (it debilitates your inmune sistem fr). So when you are in the go-go-go state (aka exams/due dates) your body is in fight or flight mode and it does not have the resources to deal with other things happening in your body. This is why when you get out of that (even for a brief period of time) you feel sick and out of energy because basically your body is now paying attention to all the other issues that you've ignored due to stress response.
